In our example, the table top is made of oak boards. The table belongs to a beverage retailer, who is one of our customers. He asked us for the right adhesive and we could offer him fast help. In this blog post, we’ll show you how to fix the cracked wood of an oak board table.
Why fill cracks in a table?
No matter if it’s the store counter in a beverage store or our dinner table at home: Treating the table top is necessary especially for hygienic reasons. Otherwise, dirt, crumbs or liquids stick to the surface very easily. In addition, you should protect the wood from moisture. Small side effect of repairing the table: The wood looks better afterwards.
Why WEICON PU-240?
Our WEICON PU-240 Polyurethane Adhesive is black. So it gives the oak boards a special contrast. Thanks to its pasty structure, it can be applied very easily to the cracks with the help of our Easy-Mix system. With a cure time of 240 seconds, it also gives you enough time for the application. The adhesive is shock-resistant and absorbs vibrations of the wood very well. That way, the surface treatment also lasts very long.
How to fix cracked wood with alternative adhesives
Besides polyurethane adhesives, epoxy resins of matching or transparent colour can be used just as well to fix cracked wood – depending on the their depths and sizes. Spreadable or kneadable materials are also well-suited for the table repair.
