Everything online or rather not?
Shopping is just a few mouse clicks away, whether cosied up on the couch or out and about – for most of us, that’s just normal everyday life. The internet makes it possible and is an indispensable method of communication for companies as well. Thanks to the digital transformation, it is extremely easy to get in touch with customers.
In comparison, the classic communication platform “trade fairs“ seems almost old-fahsioned. Large halls filled with seemingly never-ending rows of booths, where you can score free pens and cookies. The first impression is a complete information overload. If everything can be done so fast and easily online, then why do companies still put so much effort into exhibiting at trade fairs and winning over the visitors? Or in other words: Why do we at WEICON put so much effort into this?
Means of communication “trade fair”: three good reasons for a trade fair booth
We, too, offer our products online these days, on our website as well as on online platforms like amazon. And to be honest, it would be pretty unwise to ignore the potential of online retailing and to risk being outpaced.
Nevertheless: WEICON still puts a strong emphasis on face-to-face service and professional advice. And a trade fair is an ideal platform to offer just that. In 2020 alone, we are going to take part in 35 trade fairs – worldwide.
Here are three good reasons why we take part in trade fairs.
Nice to know
- in Germany alone, 160 to 180 trade fairs take place every year – with a total number of 180,000 exhibitors and 10 million visitors
- worldwide, there are about 31,000 trade fairs each year
Professional know-how
Not only do we have a very wide product range, but the products are also very complex. However, with our technical and chemcial know-how, we always find the ideal solution for all kinds of applications. That works best in a face-to-face conversation with our existing or prospective customers. And we have a lot of these conversations at trade fairs.
That’s one reason why the means of communication “trade fair”is far from old-fashioned.
Tangible products
If you want to get information on our products online, you can browse through a number of application photos and videos. That way, we try to make our products more tangible.
But there are some things you would actually like to touch and try out before buying. I‘m sure most of you know the feeling: Instead of just ordering this great pair of shoes you have seen online, you would rather go and try it on at your local shoe store.
It’s the same with our products. And at trade fairs, you get the chance to try out our stripping tools, sprays, adhesives etc. and have us explain in detail how they work and how to use them.
Just like dating for B2B
Reason number three why the means of communication “trade fair” is far away from old-fashioned: at trade fairs, most of the guests are professional visitors or at least have a personal interest in the products. Because of that, it is a great opportunity to socialise and to establish many new, interesting contacts.
At the International Hardware Fair in Cologne, for example, which is the leading trade fair for the hardware and tool industry, we meet up with many companies that can make good use of our products.

WEICON at the International Hardware Fair – what’s happening
Leading trade fair for hardware and tool suppliers
At the International Hardware Fair in Cologne, there will be more than 2,800 exhibitors from over 55 countries again this year. The four-day event is all about tools, building and DIY supplies as well as fastening and joining technology. Hang on a second – tools, fastening and joining technology? That practically screams for WEICON products.
Indeed: Since the 1950s, the trade fair has been marked as one of the most important events in the calendar of our family business.

Chemicals
Our focus this year: presenting our new products 2020! These include, for example, the WEICON Pipe Repair-Kit for emergency repairs on damaged pipes and pipelines in just 30 minutes.
Tools
Moreover, an important WEICON TOOLS innovation will be waiting for you. After all, trade fairs also exist to present special products. We’ll only tell you this much: the tool can strip extremely thin wires.
