WEICON has been manufacturing chemical products for more than 75 years. With our adhesives and sealants, which are used in the areas of production, repair, maintenance and servicing, we keep the industries of this world running. But the question rightly arises: Is chemistry and sustainability even possible?
Sustainability at WEICON
Our answer is a resounding yes! Our Managing Director Ann-Katrin Weidling is of the opinion: “If a company still thinks it has nothing to do with sustainability in this day and age, it has not understood what it is all about.”
Regardless of the industry, every company today has a responsibility to seriously address the issue of sustainability. And every company can take appropriate measures within its means to promote climate protection and reduce its CO2 emissions. Sustainability and responsible action have always been a high priority at WEICON. Thanks to the acquisition of climate protection certificates for the years 2022 and 2023, our headquarters in Münster has been recognized as a climate-neutral company by Fokus Zukunft.
New landing page on the topic of “Chemistry & Sustainability”
Our sustainability page is a project close to our hearts on the subject of sustainability. On our landing page, we therefore show what measures we are already taking as a company. What new ideas we are initiating and what sustainable action looks like for us. Our landing page uses specific examples to show what we are already doing as a company. These include points such as not using advertising materials, switching from plastic to cardboard packaging, our responsible use of energy and many other projects.
For us, however, sustainability is not just about environmental goals. But also includes social issues as one of the three pillars (alongside ecology and business). We have been supporting charitable organizations around the world since 2017. These include associations that are committed to the environment, people and animals. The WEICON landing page also provides an overview of our previous measures and ideas with the help of an A-Z of sustainability. We are aware that we are in a process. And as a company we are continuously taking further steps towards sustainability and are constantly improving.
Sustainability project of the FH Münster
As we want to continuously develop in the field of chemistry and sustainability, we are always open and grateful for further ideas and support. A few weeks ago, students from Münster University of Applied Sciences visited us to work on the topic of sustainability at WEICON as part of a project. Over the past weeks and months, they invested 94 days and more than 500 hours in their very detailed presentation. It was named “Sustainability at WEICON”. We were thrilled with how much passion the young marketing students put into this topic. Based on the three pillars “People, Planet & Profit”, we were presented with many innovative ideas and suggestions that will enable us to act even more sustainably and environmentally consciously.

Chemistry and sustainability at the Münster Climate City Week
In October 2023, we were part of the Münster Climate City Week. As part of this, all citizens and interested parties were given the opportunity to find out more about the topic of sustainability through events and guided tours with various stakeholders and companies. On one evening, we were visited by around 30 participants. They wanted to find out more about the topic of chemical sustainability. Our Brand Manager Philipp Knüppel and Technical Manager Henning Voss presented our sustainability strategy to all those present. Afterwards, there was an intensive exchange within the group and enough time for questions and further suggestions. Finally, our guests were invited to take a tour of our company premises.
