Our social media presence grew last month. We have been represented on various platforms for years. The PR and marketing departments manage channels on Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), XING, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube and WhatsApp. Our trainees also have their own Instagram account. We are now also represented on the video platform TikTok.
Why we, as a medium-sized family business, decided in favour of TikTok…
What exactly is TikTok?
TikTok is a social video sharing app where users can record, edit and share short videos with filters, music, animations, special effects and more. As with other social media apps, users can follow, like and comment on everything they see. TikTok is able to offer its users exactly what they want and nothing they don’t want. This is done by applying different types of artificial intelligence.
Keeping up with the time
In future, we want to use our social networks to address a broad target group and keep up with the times. Alongside Facebook and Instagram, TikTok is one of the most popular social media platforms in Germany and has grown enormously in recent years.
Focus on addressing specific target groups
With TikTok, we can address a completely different, significantly younger age group than with the previous channels. It is primarily aimed at 14 to 19-year-olds. Accordingly, our TikTok channel will initially focus on increasing company and brand awareness and appealing to and attracting potential employees. The first videos will therefore primarily provide funny clips from everyday office life and company insights. Similar to our previous activities on social media, the focus will therefore not primarily be on selling products. We want to establish ourselves as a modern family business in the social media jungle and also see the launch of TikTok as a potential recruiting measure.
“Of course, we are still at the very beginning with our TikTok channel and cannot yet say how the topic will develop in the coming months and years, but we are very excited to see where the journey will take us,” says our Managing Director Ann-Katrin Weidling about the new channel.
Cooperation between three departments
To ensure that we reach our target group in a targeted and appealing way, we are launching the project in collaboration with our PR department, the trainees and our video team. At the same time, we promote dialogue between the generations.
