All good things come in threes? Not quite true here! Our WEICON Tools Starter Set Pro contains four tools that make it easier for you to strip and dismantle various cables – regardless of whether you’re a professional or a hobbyist.
Nevertheless, in this blog article we herald the third part of our “What does our Starter Set Pro have to offer?” series. In the last two articles, you already learned all about the practical Cable Stripper No. S 4-28 and the Wire Stripper No. 5. Today, we will introduce you to our Round Cable Stripper, the WEICON Round Cable Stripper No. 13.

A look into the past
First, however, let’s take a brief look back. How did the stripping of round cables actually work before the invention of modern tools? I asked our colleague Gerold from WEICON Tools Product Management this question. His answer:
“In the past, even more cables were laid on the wall. Back then, people did a lot of cable work with simple pocket knives. With the invention of flush-mounted boxes and cavity wall sockets, which serve as supports for sockets and light switches, at some point the more common method was to lay cables and wires invisibly under the plaster. Since many cables have to be installed in the cavity wall sockets, it then very quickly became too tight to use the old tools. That was then also the birth of the Round Cable Stripper No. 13!”
This is how our Round Cable Stripper No. 13 works today
Today, thanks to modern round cable strippers, this work is easier and, above all, much more precise than before. But what has changed compared to the use of a simple knife? And what makes our WEICON Round Cable Stripper No. 13 particularly stand out?
The tool is suitable for the simple and quick stripping of all common round and damp room cables with a diameter of 6.0 to 13.0 mm (e.g. NYM cable 3 x 1.5 mm² to 5 x 2.5 mm²). Thinner cables and wires of type H05RN-F, which are often found in household appliances (e.g. in vacuum cleaners), can also be easily stripped of their sheaths with our No. 13.
The special feature of the No. 13 is its special shape and handiness. Thanks to the ergonomic handle shape, the smart round cable stripper lies particularly well, securely and non-slip in the hand. The tool head is rounded and also space-saving, so that it adapts perfectly to the design of the sockets commonly used today. Even cables located in deeper cavity wall sockets can be reached effortlessly and reliably stripped thanks to the longer design of the round cable stripper. The sheathing can be removed quite easily without adjusting the cutting depth. And thanks to the clever blade arrangement, you don’t have to deal with clogging sheath residues either.
For even more precise work – for example, in small batches or for assembling cables with the same set-off dimensions – a length stop is integrated in the housing, which can be set as desired in the range from 3 to 10 cm (in steps of 0.5 cm).
Work done? Then simply lock the round cable stripper with the red clip and store it safely in your toolbox to save space.
