Adhesive joints instead of screws
We constantly tell our customers that the adhesive bonding of different materials has many advantages compared to other joining technologies.
Let’s take a look at the advantages compared to screws: Adhesive joints – as opposed to screws – are much lighter. In vehicle construction, for example, adhesive bonding is an essential part today, as naturally, it makes cars and co. much more lightweight.
Moreover, adhesive bonding enbables invisible joints and causes neither material loss nor damage.
Advantages of adhesive bonding at a glance
- less weight
- enabling invisible joints
- connections without material loss or damage
Or rather adhesive joints and screws?
Now one could think that we at WEICON have absolutely nothing to do with screws except that some of us might have one loose. But that’s wrong!
As a producer of adhesives, we deal with screws quite a lot. Our product range includes a variety of products for threadlocking as well as protection, separating and lubricating agents.
Using adhesives to secure and protect screws
Securing screws with …
… WEICONLOCK®
The product line WEICONLOCK® is our star in terms of threadlocking and prevents screws from loosening unintentionally.
And how does it work? Very simply: The liquid adhesive fills the microscopically small gaps of the screw thread completely and seals them up after curing. That way,the screws can neither loosen nor turn unintentionally.
You can find more information on our WEICONLOCK® Threadlocking Varnish in this blog post. And in case you’re looking for a hands-on example: Just recently, we have secured a ski binding with our WEICONLOCK® AN 302-43.
… Threadlocking Varnish
Our Threadlocking Varnish is indispensable for securing screw connections of all kinds. But why is it coloured?
The couloured varnish is not a creative outburst of our product management, but rather enables visual control. A scratch in the varnished surface, for example, would show immediately if the screw connection was manipulated. In addition, it is often used for covering electroconductive components.
So our Threadlocking Varnish is locking, marking and sealing varnish all in one product. Another plus: It adheres to nearly every material.
Protecting screws with …
… assembly pastes
Threadlocked screws are great, seized ones, however, not so much. Our Anti-Seize Assembly Paste, for example, or our Anti-Seize High-Tech protects against corrosion, seizing and wear.
Both products are high-temperature-resistant and have an excellent separating effect. The High-Tech version also has an NSF regsitration, which means it is suitable for use in the food industry, for example.
And finally: the chemical wrench
If a screw is completely seized up and even the strongest biceps fails, our WEICON Rust Shock can still help. It is a spray that works like a “chemical wrench” and loosens screw connections within seconds due to cold shrink and capillary effect.
